Programme Advisor to Engineers Without Borders Denmark

We are looking for an experienced, driven and self-motivated individual with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the global humanitarian context, including work experience from Africa or another relevant region. Experience with working in an advisor capacity to project management with a focus on technical humanitarian development is preferable.

The Programme Advisor will be responsible for development of partnerships, stakeholder management, organizational learning, documentation of results and best practices and dissemination/training hereof across EWB-DK. The position will also provide support to fundraising, programme strategies/design and implementation support.

The position requires willingness and ability to travel abroad and in DK. It will also require work hours adjusted to EWB-DK’s project teams (evening meetings once or twice a week). Knowledge of working with a volunteer base is therefore beneficial.

Specification of responsibilities

The Programme Advisor reports to the Secretary General and will be specifically responsible for:

  • Coordinating a portfolio of partnerships/projects with EWB-DK’s volunteer Project Managers
  • Provide technical and coordinating support to thematical networks in EWB-DK
  • Coordinating overall partnership framework with international partners
  • Spearhead strategic programme development - identification of new initiatives and partners to support the strategic development of EWB-DK under its mission
  • Support the development of partner agreements, concept notes, project proposals, and funds applications including budgets in collaboration with EWB-DK’s project teams and partners
  • Support and secure a timely implementation of projects
  • Develop programme evaluation activities
  • Organize and roll out trainings and support to EWB-DK project teams on tools and guidelines in project life circle and other thematic cross cutting areas within the strategic framework EWB-DK
  • Provide information to EWB-DKs management on project implementation.

Required profile and experience

Relevant academic background (e.g. International development/engineering/social science etc.)  Field experience is required – experience from a development/humanitarian context is required.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, including working experience from Africa or other least developed areas/regions.
  • Proven experience with project management and programme implementation.
  • Proven experience in managing grants, including grants from large institutional donors
  • Ability to conduct trainings of volunteers and partners
  • Ability to oversee project plans and budgets
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Structured and systematic
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Spanish or other second language preferred.

EWB-DK is a technical humanitarian organization of volunteer members with technical competences. We collaborate with local and international NGO's to improve the living conditions for distressed and vulnerable people in poor countries. We ensure local anchorage and lasting solutions and our efforts are founded in UN's Sustainable Development Goals. You will become a part of our small, but efficient secretariat in Copenhagen.

Terms and conditions of employment

The position is 30 hours a week with the opportunity of future full-time employment and is based at EWB-DKs Secretariat in Copenhagen. Moderate travel activity must be anticipated abroad and in Denmark. Salary based on qualifications.

Start of contract is March 1st or sooner, if possible.
