This is the second phase of a previous project. The focus of this phase is to strengthen local entrepreneurship and create new economic opportunities, particularly for women. Through the establishment of Village Loans and Savings Associations (VSLAs), female community members are supported in engaging in small-scale business activities and gaining greater financial independence.
Building on the Business Hub compound and its facilities, local training initiatives have been conducted in business development and community-based entrepreneurship. At the request of the community, the project has also included basic literacy classes, improving participants’ ability to manage finances, communicate, and take an active role in local economic initiatives.
In addition, scholarships have been awarded to local students to pursue technical education in renewable energy at the Eastern Technical University in Sierra Leone. This provides young people with a unique educational opportunity while strengthening local technical capacity that can benefit the wider community in the long term.
By combining economic empowerment, education, and capacity building, the project supports more resilient livelihoods and inclusive local development.
