Water Flows in Sofiivka!

“We couldn’t have been luckier,” says Secretary General Peter Zartsdahl, who happened to be in Ukraine when a test drilling in the town of Sofiivka successfully reached water on the very first attempt.

This successful drilling marks an important step in securing clean water for the local summer camp for children affected by the war. The camp provides a much-needed respite amidst the daily challenges of the conflict. The next phase will focus on ensuring the water quality is safe for the children to drink.

Sofiivka is located in the war-affected Mykolaiv region, where EWB Denmark has a significant presence following a request from Governor and war hero Vitalii Kim.

This rapid response effort has only been possible thanks to the highly valued support from the Danish Support Group Ukraine.

“There have been some bureaucratic hurdles with permits and contracts, and banks don’t make it any easier when our local partners and contractors need to be paid. But we succeeded—and that is really great news!” concludes Peter Zartsdahl.
