“Visiting the communities involved in the project and meeting our partners in Sierra Leone clearly demonstrates just how important our local partnerships are,” says Project Advisor Sarah Specht Olsen.

STRONGER AGRICULTURE = STRONGER WOMEN

This spring, our Project Advisor Sarah Specht Olsen visited one of our projects in Sierra Leone, where women’s groups receive support to develop their farming activities and create greater financial security for their families.

During the visit, Sarah met women from the Njoyaila Agricultural Women’s Group, among others. They explained how the project has enabled them to increase their harvests, improve food security and generate a more stable income.

The women also highlighted another positive outcome of the project: the collective strength that emerges when women work together in groups to farm. This has led to greater cooperation, knowledge-sharing and solidarity and, above all, stronger mutual support among the women.

Projects like this can only succeed through close cooperation with local partners. As Sarah explains:

“Visiting the communities involved in the project and meeting our partners in Sierra Leone clearly demonstrates just how important our local partnerships are. Seeing the results first-hand gives you an even deeper understanding of both the challenges themselves and the tangible difference these projects make in local communities.”

Thank you to SEND SIERRA LEONE for the strong partnership, and to CISU – Civil Society in Development for the support.
