“Tearful Men Hug You Because You’re There”
Many Ukrainians lack the most basic necessities, such as heating and electricity—areas where volunteer engineer Simon Grønne Nielsen can help. That’s why he is always ready to travel to Ukraine:
“It’s a country at war, and a country in extreme need.”
⚙️ 33-year-old Simon works as a mechanical engineer at DIS – CREADIS Engineering Solutions & Consulting in his everyday job. He is also an active member of Engineers Without Borders Denmark, particularly drawn to our missions in war-torn Ukraine, where so many civilians need help.
“Seeing grown men nearly in tears just because we were there… that’s really what matters most,” says Simon, who has just returned from his latest mission around the city of Mykolaiv in southeastern Ukraine.
“If you feel you have the time, the energy—and expertise to share—I can’t see why you wouldn’t do it.”
Strong work, Simon—thank you 🙏
