Together with our local partners, World Hope International and Skill Pool Sierra Leone, we are currently implementing a major climate project in Freetown. The project is led by a team of volunteer engineers, runs over 2.5 years, and aims to strengthen the resilience of local communities to climate change.
We recently conducted a midterm evaluation of the project during our visit to Sierra Leone. So far, the results include:
💧 Construction of 2 water towers and the beginning of drainage channel development.
🌳 Tree planting to counter deforestation.
📚 Capacity building of local committees to manage climate risks.
🏦 Establishment of a sustainable financial model for maintenance and tree planting.
🤝 Collaboration with local authorities on sustainable, long-term solutions.
A big thank you to CISU – Civil Society in Development – for supporting this project.
