VOLUNTEERS WANTED: HELP REBUILD A SCHOOL

Help rebuild a STEM school for girls in Sierra Leone

Earlier this year, a fire destroyed Nyapui School in Kenema District, Sierra Leone. We immediately sent a technical response team to assess the damage and provide recommendations for a safe and resilient reconstruction. Our local partner, SEND Sierra Leone, is now leading the rebuilding efforts and has requested continued technical support throughout the project.

 

How you can contribute:

The role primarily consists of online technical advice and sparring, including:

  • Reviewing and validating architectural and structural designs
  • Quality assurance and technical monitoring of the construction work
  • Advising on procurement, budgets, bills of quantities (BoQs), and technical specifications
  • Focusing on safety and resilience during implementation
  • Participating in a joint technical advisory group with local stakeholders

 

Who are we looking for?

Whether you are an experienced specialist or a newly graduated engineer with a desire to contribute, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are looking for skills within:

  • Project management
    Building and construction
  • Electrical, water, and sanitation solutions
  • Architecture and resilient infrastructure
  • Fire safety and firefighting systems
  • Quality assurance and technical monitoring
