We have just completed another successful trip to Mykolaiv, Ukraine.
“This trip focused on structural projects, including a large new shelter and establishing accessible entrances to a cultural and activity center in Mykolaiv city. We also visited potential new project sites in a nearby village, focusing on improvements to water and electricity supply,” says Alun Thomas from Engineers Without Borders Denmark.
He emphasizes the importance of continuing work in the war-torn country: “Although the situation was calm during our visit in terms of air raid alarms, the consequences of previous attacks are still very visible. Power outages remain frequent.”
With support from Rambøll and NavVis, the team tested 3D scanning and 360° camera surveys of several buildings. This new technology allows us to share detailed and precise information with volunteers and partners who are not on-site. It is a major advantage for complex projects where construction safety is critical.
In the photo, our team—Alun Thomas, Brian Klindrup, Egil Bartos, Birgitte Andersen, Peter Kjær, and Yaroslava Martyniuk—is seen discussing project design, while Peter Kjær performs 3D scanning.
