Engineers Without Borders leads the way past this year’s Climate People’s Meeting in Middelfart.

On Thursday 29 August, there is both the opportunity to learn more about IUG’s work with Climate Adaptation in Sierra Leone in the Assembly House and to meet IUG at CISU’s stand.

Talk: Climate change in Sierra Leone

Through the photos of the award-winning photojournalist Mikkel Hørlyck, you can see with your own eyes how the people of Freetown, Sierra Leone are struggling to adapt to the climate changes that have long since hit their country.
Mikkel Hørlyck has visited Freetown together with Engineers Without Borders and their local partners. Together with Naja Mammen Nielsen from Engineers Without Borders, he shows the pictures from Sierra Leone, while they talk about how the citizens of Freetown, with support from IUG, are working to both slow down and adapt to climate change. Globalnyt’s editor-in-chief Sven Johannesen facilitates the conversation.

The event is supported by OpEn – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Information and Engagement pool.

Stage: The assembly house, at 11:00 – 11:45

In the Assembly House, there is also the opportunity to experience a selection of Mikkel Hørlyck’s pictures from Sierra Leone, which portray IUG’s projects. Below is the winning photo from CISU’s photo competition.

Meet IUG in the OpEn stand

IUG and Mikkel Hørlyck will be at CISU’s OpEn stand at the Klimfolkemødet. Here they will answer questions about IUG’s efforts with climate adaptation, Mikkel Hørlyck’s work in portraying climate change in Sierra Leone and there is a good opportunity to ban yourself in the exhibited photos from the photo series “Building the Future”.

Time and place: Booth 39 Thursday 29 August at 14-18.
